Magic Happens

We are embodiments of “Love”, “divine love”, and as such we have the essence and the power to change the world to become a peaceful and joyful unity. We only need open ourselves to the Truth of this Love that we are, and allow the magic of its divine nature heal the world from all sorrow, hatred and fear.

This Truth of Love is within even those who deny it. It is for those of us who accept this Truth to help heal those who remain caught in the web of delusion. This is done simply by being lead and guided by your Guru God by which ever name you call Him by, and allow the ‘Love’ work through you as the divine instrument and embodiment of love that you are! Let the magic happen, let go let God!

Magic Happens Rama110
'Rama' at 11 years old.

28th July 2008 - I want to share with you a little magic with you that happened to me today ...

It actually started yesterday on the 27th of July, as I took my old dog (now 14, his breed being a cross boxer/ridgeback) Rama for his morning walk down by the river. I was faced with my worst nightmare, my worst fear. That another big dog would come and they would fight, my fear use to be that with Rama being such a big strong dog, I would not be able to pull two big dogs apart if they did begin fighting, but now that Rama has become old and sick with Addison’s disease and arthritic, my fear is that he would get hurt if he was attacked by another dog now. So every day when I walk him, I am consciously aware and looking out for other dogs so I can make a quick escape and get Rama to the safety of the car. I always look for secluded areas to walk him.

Well to continue my story … yesterday, I parked the car by the cane fields as normal and had just crossed the road with Rama, I had taken note along the way that no other threatening dogs were around running loose. I proceeded to take off his lead to let him free to do his business in an empty cane field. Just as I slipped the choker-chain off his neck, two huge Rhodesian Ridgebacks, (breed to hunt lions), with no collars came up behind us. OMG … They had come out from inside some cane fields on the other side of the road, I looked to see a man holding their leads in his hand coming towards us to get his dogs presumably.

By then both dogs took to Rama, they had overpowered and pinned him down quickly. One was on his back end and the other had his throat and was shaking his head. I screamed out for “Swami”, and this happened in an unconscious state as I was dumb with fear for Rama, but I heard myself screaming out “Swami”.

Suddenly the dog on Rama’s throat stopped shaking and was still and just holding his neck in his mouth and the other was also stilled. By then the owner tried to get them, but they up and ran away from him, leaving Rama. In that split second I threw myself over Rama to keep the dogs away from him. It was a horrendous moment for me, being my worst fears.

I was yelling at the man to get his dogs on the leads, he came back with “I have to catch them first” as he is trying to coax them over to him. But they were more interested in Rama than their owner who had absolutely no control over them. They kept coming back at Rama, and I kept growling at them to get away. People from the riverside had come up to see what the commotion was about. I saw them standing watching, some with the hands over their mouths in shock and unable to help me, they could only watch on.

Still waiting for the man to grab his dogs, I remained over Rama, still not sure what damage had been done. “Walk away” I yelled to him, “take your dogs away.” “But is your dog alright” he was obviously upset also about Rama. “Just get your dogs away, go, take them away!” I yelled in a firm voice. Finally he relented and started to walk away and calling his dogs to follow him, they ran around him but not near him enough to get caught to have their leads attached.

I waited till they were a safe distance away, before I gave Rama the once over to see what damage had been done. A car pulled up with an older man and his wife in it, he came over to me and asked if he could help me carry Rama to the car. I thanked him and said, “I don’t know if he can walk or not. I’m just checking him now. Rama was perfectly okay, only in shock like me. But he didn’t have a mark on him, nothing. I think he’s ok I said. Rama got up to prove he was, and I walked him slowly back to the car. We went home.

As I went over and over the drama of the event, I recognized how my faith in God was automatic and I immediately sang out for my Guru to help me, then remembered how suddenly those dogs were stilled then finally lead away, and the fact that Rama was not hurt at all physically to me was a miracle. Thank you God!

Now here comes the magic of confirmation that is always happening with me to support my faith in God … today’s thought for the day from Swami written on the board up at his Ashram. The same daily thoughts; which I have been putting up on the portal page every day. But todays reading is abundantly clear with confirmation for me as you will now read...

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

This world is the jungle in which you roam; fear is the lion which drives you up the tree of samsara (worldly activities). Anxiety is the bear that terrifies you and dogs your every step in this world, so you slide down into attachments and binding deeds through the twin roots of hope and despair. Day and night are the rats which nibble away at the span of life. Meanwhile, you try to snatch a little joy from the sweet drops of egoism and the 'I' feeling. Finding at last that the drops do not give true fulfillment, you shout in the agony of renunciation, calling on the Guru; the Guru appears from within or without, and saves you from fear and anxiety.

- Baba
