Round and Round
This ride we take on life's brief carousel,
that precious circle ticketed by grace,
a legacy of ups and downs to tell.
The beauty we are lucky to embrace
bright gondolas and ponies of our youth
are left behind, a breeze across our face.
Our Starter, sitting in His lonely booth
amusedly beholds our wordly scene
and offers us the sole brass ring of truth.
We wonder as we glide, what does life mean-
a mere charade where sleuths give search, and strive
to grasp at clues forever left unseen?
And yet what's better than to be alive?
I know of nothing else that can compare.
Between the time we leave and then arrive
at new fairgrounds awaiting us somewhere-
the ride we take on life's brief carousel,
I know of nothing else that can compare
