Re: Lessons of life
I have looked for a way to let go and be as well for quite some time. What worked for me was to simply bring my gentle, loving attention to places in me that were not open to that "let go and be"-ness and let them gently heal, dissolve, and be released. I found that gently bringing God in through attention to those areas can be very liberating as well. I hope that helps at all.

Re: Lessons of life
I subscribe to daily emails from Neale Donald Walsch. I thought you might get some inspiration from this one...
On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know...
...that "Why is this happening?" is the most useless
question in the Universe.
The only really profitable question is, "What?" As in,
"What do I choose now?" This question empowers.
The "why" question simply perplexes, and rarely
satisfies even when it gets a good answer.
So don't try to "figure it out." Stop it. Just focus on
what you now wish to create. Keep moving forward.
There's nothing behind you that can possibly serve
you better than your highest thoughts about tomorrow.
You will not have to think but a second to know
exactly why you received this message today.

The Serenity Prayer & the Desiderata
Nearly every day I repeat the Serenity Prayer to myself - it reminds me about accepting and learning lessons.
Then there is the Desiderata
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change
the courage to change the things I can
and the wisdom to know the difference
to accept the things I cannot change
the courage to change the things I can
and the wisdom to know the difference
Then there is the Desiderata
-- written by Max Ehrmann in the 1920s --
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love,
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Re: Lessons of life
A lesson in life is repeated over and over until you can forgive and accept. Forgiveness is how one lets it go. Any lesson you encounter in life is there for you to forgive not only the person who you feel is causing you to be resentful and hurt, but just as importantly to forgive yourself for the lapse in compassion and forgiveness for allowing resentfulness and hurt overpower your true nature of being which is ‘divine love’.
Often a good way to check one-self is to ask ... "What would Jesus do in this situation", for he is a great example of how to lead a pure and loving spiritual life in order to devote oneself to Gods love.
The reason a lesson is repeated is usually because we have not learnt the main lesson it had first come to teach us. Or that we did not forgive or let it go properly, but actually picked it up again. We can choose to be forgiving, we also have to choose to be continuous in that forgiveness, and allow forgiveness to become our nature.
Forgiving is only part of the step toward letting go of the hurt and resentment. The next part is to continually watch the heart so that the hurt or resentment does not overpower us again. We will be tested by another similar lesson to see if we are still watching our heart or if we have forgotten our forgiving nature, which is divine love.
Todays “Thought for the day as written at Prasanthi Nilayam today 9th August 2008” … is also timed in answer to your question my Dear Rosebud.
Many feel that it is human to err and that Bhagawan should forgive their lapses. In fact, if they were truly human, they should not commit mistakes at all. Even if sometimes a mistake is committed, willingly or unwillingly, it should not be repeated. It is a grievous error to think that it is natural for a human being to err. To follow the directives of the senses is the mark of an animal. To be guided by the Atma is the sign of a human being. None should attempt to justify his or her weaknesses and lapses as natural to a human being. They should be regarded as signs of mental debility. When you have truly acquired sense-control, you will experience the power of the Divine in you.- Baba
You do not have to be a Swami devotee to understand these thoughts. Change the name “Bhagawan” to “God”.

Lessons of life
I have often heard that everything in life is a lesson for our spiritual growth. The good and bad lessons of life. That we have to learn and grow and move on from these lessons from life.
What if the same lessons come up?
How does one learn from it for God and move on? To move on from being angry and hurt and resentful for the same lesson that re surfes.
What is the lesson I am to learn from it???
How can I let go and let be??
