Hi Therese.
Welcome to OM. I think everyone thinks about the things you have asked. I'm not sure how well I can advise. Hopefully a few of our members will have some input as well. Also, I think that sometimes it's really hard to get an "aha" moment when you have a big issue in your life. I usually just trust that everything will work itself out and I'll come out the other end stronger and / or wiser.
I usually try and explain my understanding with analogies and comparisons. But not knowing the specific problem, I can't do that, so I will give my general thoughts on a few of the things you've said in your post.
Firstly, you say you feel powerless. There's nothing wrong with that. Life is not about power, it's about being able to give in to needing power. Just have faith that your higher purpose is happening, with or without you doing the "right" or "wrong" things.
Secondly, we all go through misfotunes in life, some "worse" than others, but all painful at the time for each of us while in that experience. There's a few things I like to remember at these times. Everything happens for a reason, we may or may not find out the reason later on, but we can usually look back on things later and see some good things that came out of the experience.
One thing I've learnt lately, is that no matter how much faith and spiritual strength I have, I still need to go through the human processes. So, don't feel bad about feeling down, lost, crying, asking for help etc etc. No matter how stong a spirit we have, we are still human right at this moment.
Remember that without "bad" experiences, we would not know/appreciate our "good" experiences as much.
Another good thing to remember is that we are never alone. It can feel like it - but in this day of age, even if there is no one close to share or help, there is always someone around the world, willing to listen and give advice on the web - technology is an amazing thing sometimes!! There's probably someone who's been through the same thing, or close enough.
As far as letting people down. We all do that sometimes. Also, I believe that we have chosen our experiences to have in human lives, and who we will meet and connect with while here, so while it feels horrible that we hurt others, remember that they have their own experiences and higher purposes. They are learning something from this too. There is not alot to do except apologise if you need to and respect whatever way they choose to deal with the situation. We can only keep trying to better our lives, but no-one is perfect and we shouldn't expect others to be either.
Namaste - hope that helps - it's what I try to remember when I'm going through bad times.

Re: CWG - Concept 1 - GOD is Communicating with US ALL THE TIME
Hi, let me first introduce myself, I'm therese. I have a lot of questions about my life and I have been searching for quite sometime now.
I agree that God communicates to us in many different forms. And sometimes through our failures God makes his presence known. Just recently
I experienced a huge misfortune in my life. I know that this is not punishment from God, I refused to accept that. But how do I go about this?
I felt that I have let my love ones down. Knowing that they are disappointed with how my life is going right now, I feel powerless.
