CWG - Concept 2 - .....and nothing but the Truth, so help you God Empty Re: CWG - Concept 2 - .....and nothing but the Truth, so help you God

Hi Therese

I too, I know very well how you are feeling. I have never worried that much what other people think of me, but I would be lying to say that what others have thought or said have never made me doubt myself.

I was wondering what to say in reply to your question, because it's really one of my questions too and, once again, without the full story it's hard to know exactly what you are faced with.

So, I looked back to the Conversations with God books for a guide and found these two excerpts that stood out - hopefully they fit your questioning:- (note: the red is the author talking)

Yet God, in a sense, does not even care about the outcome. Not the ultimate outcome.

This is because the ultimate outcome is assured. And this is the second great illusion of man: that the outcome of life is in doubt. It is this doubt about ultimate outcome that has created your greatest enemy, which is fear. For if you doubt outcome, then you must doubt Creator—you must
doubt God. And if you doubt God, you must live in fear and guilt all your life. If you doubt God’s intentions—and God’s ability to produce this ultimate result—then how can you ever relax? How can you ever truly find peace?

You say “Release all doubts, reject all fears, lose all pessimism” as if you’re saying “pick me up a loaf of bread.” But these things are easier said than done. “Throw all negative thoughts out of your mental constructions” might as well read “climb Mt. Everest—before lunch.” It’s rather a large order

Harnessing your thoughts, exercising control over them, is not as difficult as it might seem. (Neither, for that matter, is climbing Mt. Everest.) It is all a matter of discipline. It is a question of intent. The first step is learning to monitor your thoughts; to think about what you are thinking about. When you catch yourself thinking negative thoughts—thoughts that negate your highest idea about a thing—think again! I want you to do this, literally.

If you think you are in a doldrum, in a pickle, and no good can come of this, think again.
If you think the world is a bad place, filled with negative events, think again.
If you think your life is falling apart, and it looks as if you’ll never get it back together again, think again.
You can train yourself to do this. (Look how well you’ve trained yourself not to do it!)

An overall guideline might be this: When in
doubt, always err on the side of compassion. The test of whether you
are helping or hurting: Are your fellow humans enlarged or reduced as a
result of your help? Have you made them bigger or smaller? More able or
less able?

It has been said that if you give everything to individuals,
they will be less willing to work for it themselves. Yet why should
they have to work for the simplest dignity? Is there not enough for
all? Why should “working for it” have to do with anything? Isn’t basic
human dignity the birthright of everyone?
Oughtn’t it be? If
one seeks more than minimum levels—more food, bigger shelters, finer
coverings for the body—one can seek to achieve those goals. But ought
one have to struggle to even survive—on a planet where there is more than enough for everyone?

That is
the central question facing humankind. The challenge is not to make
everyone equal, but to give everyone at least the assurance of basic
survival with dignity, so that each may then have the chance to choose
what more they want from there.

I also found some quotes on doubt by Sathya Sai Baba, and have posted that as a separate post.

Hi Akindra, regarding this feelings and truth. . . Why is it that whenever I decided on something, and people would start criticizing my decision, I feel bad and would start to doubt myself?
Even though I know my decision is the declaration of my highest self. Does this mean I still doubt myself? Or maybe I am wrong and they are right? Please enlighten me. Because this is my greatest dilemma. I am paralyzed by the idea that others are not happy with me. And the decisions I make tends to go towards what serves them than me, even if my soul is shouting and disagreeing.

So true - I find raising my child the hardest thing in the world. Thanks for your comment, I'm going to keep it in my mind as a reminder for me to do that too! sunny

CWG - Concept 2 - .....and nothing but the Truth, so help you God Empty feelings of the soul

Post by Machan Wed May 13, 2009 6:55 pm

I see myself teaching my children to NOT be themselves, and it makes me sad. I am trying hard to change so that they will grow up to be closer to God in their lives. Today, I will let them BE who they are and who they need to be.

Nicely said. I think of this as acting in integrity with oneself....

In life, the biggest choice you will ever make is the choice
between your truth and the truth of another.

And how can you know which truth is “truly” yours?
Conversations with God says by listening to what your are feeling. Feelings
reside in the soul, and the soul is God-in-you. In this place is your truth,
and it is in no other.

Concept #2

Feeling is the language of the Soul.

Most of our adult lives are spent learning to trust our feelings.
This is not surprising, since most of our growing up years were spent learning
to ignore them.

Many people were told as children that feelings were not “good”.
It was not “good” to be angry and to show it. It was not “good” to feel jealous
and to show it. It was not “good” to feel scared and to show it. It was not “good”
even to feel too excited and to show it. It was not good, it was not good, it
was not good.

If we ran into a room filled from head to toe with youthful
exuberance, we were told to hold it down, to not interrupt, to keep still. If
we stormed away hurt and angry, we were told to stop that right now, and
apologise this instant, never speak to elders that way again. If we laughed too
loud or cried too long, spoke too soon or asked too much, we were made to know
that we had somehow done something “wrong”. We had not been “good”.

In all of this, we couldn’t have missed the point; we couldn’t
have escaped the message. Life wasn’t about learning how to be, it was about
learning how not to be, what we were.

For many adults the biggest challenge is to remember Who
They Really are. Such a big portion of them has been dropped by the wayside,
left behind, abandoned, stifled, ignored.

Do you want to know who you are? Do you want to get back in
touch with your truth about things – whatever those things may be? Then check
out your feelings. Listen to your Soul.

I was with a friend for a couple of hours today after work. We spent the whole time sharing joyfully! Being in the moment supporting another and sharing our hearts is such fun! I always feel close to God when I am listening to another. Thanks for your thoughts Akindra!
